Playwright & Director
Maya Shore (she/her) is a director and playwright based in New York City. She is passionate about theatre that looks the audience in the eye and experiments with technical ingenuity in every inch of available space. Maya is currently a senior at Barnard College where she has produced and directed a number of plays, including FEAR IT (Playwright and Director, Kings Crown Shakespeare Troupe), HUMBLE BOY (Director, Columbia University Players) and THERE RUNS A MOUSE (Playwright and Director, Columbia University Players). In summer 2024, Maya was awarded the Dasha Epstein Fellowship to support an artistic residency at the New York Stage and Film summer season, and in December 2024, she was awarded a Barnard research grant to study historical performances of Shakespeare’s women at the Globe Theatre Archives in London and at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
“When you write a play, you are building a future community of artists to bring your words to life.”
